On thursday the 9/3-17 eleven Bielkersmils´offsprings made it to the finish line in Polardistance 160km. This year PD was a world championship as well.

I´m very proud to be the breeder of these dogs and very happy that Beat and Lars have had the strength and energy to train the dogs in a sufficient way.
Lars Jämtsved and Lotta Eriksson who bought their first Bielkersmils puppy in 2010 had a team of seven dogs in front of the sledge and it was the second time that Lars participated in the race. He and his team ended up as number four in the World championship.
He and Lotta has put a lot of energy into accomplishing this. I know since we have a close contact. To train dogs for such a long distance you must understand that it takes a lot of time. The dogs need to be trained for many kilometers ( I think Lars has trained them around 2000km), You also need to make a close connection to the dogs in order to make a good team in order to accomplish this you need to spend a lot of time with the dogs.
During low season (spring, summer and early autumn) the dogs also need training. A good way to train them as the weather is to warm is to walk them with a back pack like I know Lotta has been doing.
Beat went skiing with a team of four bitches, all Bielkersmils´offsprings. I know from pics in facebook that he has been training quite a lot but not how much. He and his team ended up as number six..

Yesterday began with snowfall which made it possible to go by sled on our forest road. In the first hundred meters through a small wooded area the ground is only covered by an extra thin layer of snow and yesterday furthermore very wet due to the heavy rains on Wednesday.
II was therefore a bit afraid that I might have made a bad decision going sledging with a ten team. The water sprayed high up on my legs and the sled bounced upon the heather and moss. Safely out of the woods and out on the little forest road everthing was ok and both I and the dogs enjoyed ourselves.
It was a tour of 11km with a stop to investigate the track that crossed the road - Sure, it was a fresh tracck of a wolf. Luckily we did not come at the same time as the wolf!
13 days ago Singi (Great Jamarofs Manka), barely 12 years old, walked over the rainbow bridge. It is with sadness that I must remind myself not to pour food to her, not to be pushed by her warm nose when she wants to be petted.
Singi was a very easygoing dog with a great temperament, calm and easy to learn. . She was clear against the other dogs (without being mean) so they always knew where they had her.
Singi was the bitch who got to teach our youngsters how to behave when they had a harness on which she did with great patience and in a friendly but firm manner. She was not a fast sled dog, but had incredible focus and worked tirelessly, regardless of the weather and track conditions.
Singi really was our daughter's dog and missed by all of us - this amazing wise dog who gave us so much joy. Now we hope that she is good and can chase squirrels and live a good life.

It turned out, unfortunately, that the mating between Kalla and Dumle did not result in any puppies. Kalla tricked us by being really false pregnant so now we hope for better luck at the next heat.
Otherwise, life goes on. One day sun and sparkling snow, the second day rain and ice on the roads sos the training conditions have not been the best. Yesterday we had a fantastic day. In the morning Håakn and I went skiing on Acksjön accompanied by Arija and Birk. The sun shone from a clear blue sky and the snow sparkled. After the ski tour, I went sledging with a six-team and then I went for a walk with Corall and Saiko. In the evening it started to snow and this morning when we woke up it had come about 10cm wet snow. Now Yr.no promised rain tomorrow so we have to take the opportunity to drive the sled as long as possible.
Now all the puppies have moved and we look forward to a new year at Bielkersmils kennel. Bielkersmils Kalla Of Nallo was mated with SunMasters Back to Work aka Dumle 13 / 12-16 so hopefully we are waiting puppies around the 14 / 2-17. The puppies are then ready for delivery no earlier than 8 weeks after birth.
